Volunteer in the editing department (m/f/d) (full-time)

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a full-time trainee in editing (m/f/d) as soon as possible. The traineeship is designed for 12 months.

Your tasks

  • Support in all aspects of program planning, acquisition, author support and the publication of scientific literature (books/anthologies/databases)
  • Obtaining and editing advertising texts, coordinating the creation of covers and titles, handing them over to other departments
  • Preparation and follow-up of author talks and editor meetings
  • Independent project management in close cooperation with authors/editors and the in-house editorial, marketing, production and database project management departments
  • Responsibility for title production and scheduling throughout the publication process, monitoring and budget compliance
  • Editorial review and proofreading of incoming manuscripts and coordination of proofreading processes in collaboration with authors/editors
  • Working with editorial systems and content management systems, taking into account professional and technical aspects
  • Writing press releases and editorial articles for the social media channels

your profile

  • Education: You have successfully completed a university degree in the field of German studies, communication science or similar
  • Work experience: Ideally, you will have practical experience in an academic publishing house
  • Working method: You work organised, efficiently, structured and with a secure setting of priorities and have strong communication skills
  • Passion: You have a keen sense of the German language and perfect knowledge of the new German orthography. You have a good technical understanding and the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with the in-house systems, you are no stranger to MS Office applications
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: You work independently, with personal responsibility, make pragmatic decisions and have an eye for detail
  • Enthusiasm and communication: You are enthusiastic about your area of ​​responsibility, represent it professionally both internally and externally and get a fresh perspective on day-to-day work
  • Language skills: You speak and write German and English fluently
