Engines, aircraft engines or gas turbines are just a few examples of technical combustion systems. The energy chemically bound in the fuel is converted into other forms of energy with the help of a combustion process. Combustion control is crucial to develop efficient and low-emission systems. As a prediction tool, computer simulation is already making a major contribution that will continue to grow in the future. The simultaneous further development of turbulence and combustion models is crucial in order to further improve the quality of the simulation results. In the present work, an overall method for simulating combustion systems has been developed. Significant improvements compared to conventional methods used in industry are achieved through the direct resolution of the large flow structures using the coarse structure simulation. When modeling the combustion, a tabulation of the possible thermo-chemical states is used. The suitability of the method is validated using three-dimensional, turbulent test cases. Both premixed and non-premixed configurations are examined.
