The flood disaster in June 2013 caused devastating damage, especially in northern, southern and eastern Germany. Water levels in the Saale of up to 8.10 meters or even almost 13 meters in the Danube caused masses of water to overflow their banks and caused extensive damage to property and extensive evacuations from parts of the city.
