Courtship is a central theme of medieval poetry. However, the women are mainly negotiated as objects of exchange. The Kudrun seal occupies a special position. Even with the title "Ditz puech ist von Chaudrun" she points out the special position of women. It is structured through the courtship of four successive generations. The Kudrun poetry shows an increase from harmless to dangerous courtship. For this reason it can be assumed that in the Hilde part one can speak of an exemplary scheme advertising, and in the Kudrun part of an adoption of the pattern. In order to be able to contribute to the differentiation of the images of women, the author has selected the exemplary Hilde part. However, the Hilde part was also considered in the context of the complete work. The history of mentality, textual analysis and quantitative analysis were used methodologically. Schmid-Cadalbert's scheme was used as a basis for the detailed analysis of courtship in order to examine the important figures in the various phases and spaces in detail. Various images of women are recognized in the figure "Hilde" and a female ruler is represented. In addition, an answer was given to the question of whether the roles of rulers and gender images were presented in a rather stereotypical manner or whether they were broken up.
